In my 30+ years in building/operating businesses in 10 countries around the world, I’ve discovered that the rarest of skills is emotional toughness. I’ve worked with SuperBowl Champions, World Series Winners and Olympic Gold Medalists, and only a tiny percentage of them were able to transfer their toughness beyond their sport. It turns out that tough guys (and gals) are hard to find. My new book, due for release in 2019, deals with this issue, and I’m searching for examples of people who have proven they are the real deal. Not big talkers; but big doers. If this is you, watch this short video and comment on the blog.
Terry,
Thanks for your comment. For this book I’m looking for the different kind of toughness; one that deals with rejection and persistence. But certainly the survivors that you referenced must be mentally tough.
I wonder, Steve, if you would consider people — men, women and children — who have survived the horrors of war, terrorism, devastation and famine in other parts of the world. People who have survived plane crashes in isolated places etc.
Anyway, your new book idea is an interesting one.
