The most successful people have the largest networks of powerful people who can help them. While the average person is randomly passing out business cards and enduring endless networking mixers, the smartest business people target the rich and powerful in an attempt infiltrate their inner circle. This is not to be confused with social climbing or using people. It’s done with the sole purpose of a developing a long-term, symbiotic relationship with people who have substantial contacts, credibility, and influence in the marketplace. Neither life nor business is a level playing field, and the most strategic people end up winning most of the time. I’ve said this for years in TV, radio, and print interviews and have been lambasted by viewers, listeners and readers for promoting such a cold, calculated strategy. The truth is it’s simply a matter of watching what the most successful people do and copying it. Some people may criticize you for adopting this strategy, and that’s why you must be mentally tough enough to ignore them. Watch this 4:53 segment from my national TV show, Mental Toughness with Steve Siebold, and see what you think. This one strategy catapulted my business and income in the first 12 months I implemented it. There are few strategy’s I’ve seen that will have a more dramatic effect on your income.  Steve Siebold  ( 4:53 )

  1. Hey Steve,
It was a valuable suggestion, thank you.
Am a budding Surgeon, and people get me in your contact list… I may save your life!! 😉

  2. Networking is far greater than I realized until recently. After retireing from a career with a major transportation company and talking to a former work associate I was given a postion in the company he now manges. Actually I was not looking for work but when the owner of the company he manges heard I was free insisted I was offered the postion.
I have heard many people complain about their lack of success in finding a job through the want ads, etc. Yet I was not even looking for employment which proves the worth of networking.
Also I find great satisfaction in assiting others with helpful information as well as giving my time to non-work related community projects. Now I have more time and income and am still expanding my network.

  3. This jumps out from your copy and needs to be repeated: “the smartest business people target the rich and powerful in an attempt infiltrate their inner circle. This is not to be confused with social climbing or using people. It’s done with the sole purpose of a developing a long-term, symbiotic relationship with people who have substantial contacts, credibility, and influence in the marketplace. A lot of things never get done, great ideas die, and success is nothing but a day dream because of failure to connect with the right people in the right way for the right reasons. Fear and the inability to come up with a contact plan are the main reasons this failure happen.

Building a world class network takes vison, time, and a lot of learning along the way.

The best of success to you.

    Mike

  4. Hi Steve,

This is great and thanks for the valuable information.

I have a question for you though. What needs to happen inorder to get YOU into my network?

Thanks for your time and consideration.

    Sincerely,

    Kevin

  5. Hi Steve,
    Great post and video.
I wish I had 25,000 or above contacts in my database.(More like 500 for me!) But having said that I am going to take action and start building on it. I’ve played around for far too long on building my network – never following up on prospects who contacted me, I’d do the work they had commissioned for them and never even add them to my database. How many I’ve missed adding over the years who knows. But from today I’m going to start building my network!
    Thanks again,
    Richard

  6. Hi steve, This video is impressing.

How to raise my value in order to network with the top 100 of my dream list, now how to contact them and surely how to maintain the relationship as if they are best friend. I got some ideas and some work to do here.

I wonder how to deal with the people that are not on my goal/help list: the time suckers types. Tony Robbins idea on that one goes something like: help them raise their standards and if they care enough to be with you they will, if not, let them go. still there is the masses type, as for 25,000 subscribers list. How do you go about it ?

I look forward to my best top 100 network list of people and for the public speaking and writing blog post.

Thank you and have a nice day.

  7. Steve…You are So Right. Nothing gets you more of what you want faster,
then having an arsenal of bright powerful supportive people who like you,
what you do, and are willing to move you and your ideas forward.
I know from experience that this might seem like a daunting task, but once
you figure out “your own special way” to create these special relationships,
    it’s amazing what’s possible.
Keep on opening our minds to your wisdom Steve…we all need it!
    Thaks so Joy
