I’ve addressed hundreds of thousands of sales people in speeches over the past 14 years, and the most common question I get is: which group of businesspeople is the most mentally tough? For 14 years, I’ve politely declined to answer the question…until today. There’s one profession that stands above the rest when it comes to mental toughness. These people take more mental and emotional abuse than all others put together, yet they continue driving forward toward their goals and dreams. Many of them start out with nothing but a big dream in their heart and the mental toughness to do whatever it takes to make it reality. The champions of this industry possess the one thing ever aspiring millionaire must develop: the heart of a lion. Watch this short video and see if you agree with my assessment. Steve Siebold

“entend” should be “intend” I though I proofread my submission better than that
Hey Steve,
How about politicians? That’s tougher than MLM!!
We need to toughen up the Republican party so we can get rid of that socialist President!! Lets do it Steve!!!!! I want to see the next blog for the party!!! Just a suggestion!!
Lisa,
I don’t consider politicians businesspeople. Have you seen the deficit? If we ran our businesses like politicians we’d all not only be broke…we’d all be in jail! I’m as disgusted with the GOP as I am the Obama administration. The only party who seems to have their act together are the Libertarians.
I could run a list of things I’ve done in my life with the challenges and learning curves, and topping the list in everything you posted, Steve, would be the business my wife and I began 14 years ago in direct sales/network marketing.
We were fortunate to have a mentor who guided us along our first few years when we needed the guidence and at the same time our vision and motivation could not have been replaced by anything else.
We’ve become accomplished coaches and mentors also which has to happen to be successful in this business because it’s much more than retailing products.
The last thing I’ll say is that one of the greatest rewards is working through the adversity and challenges and transforming mental toughness into an ever present joy of learning, creating and building.
Taking that to the next and the next then becomes the new definition of mental toughness and while the challenges change so does the confidence grow with every day’s anticipation of what will happen next.
I’ve written a lot on this in many formats but I’ll stop for now – so you are right, Steve – the mental toughness it takes to meet adversity daily while keeping and expanding your and dreams – requires heroic efforts at times and helping people see themselves and their efforts in that reality is one of the most important things we can do to be successful in this industry.

All of my adult life I’ve tried losing weight. You name the weight loss product, I’ve tried almost 90% of them. Now that I’m coming up 60 this summer, and have moved to the cold Minnesota winter where my family lives, my brother said to me exactly what you’re talking about. He told me that if I really want to lose weight and keep it off, I have to change the way I think. Who’d have thought! He told me that until I do that, I’ll never lose the weight because . . . well, you know. I ordered your book to enhance on that original thought (to me, that is.)
I started changing my way of thinking, and already lost over 20 lbs. I can’t wait to get into your “Die Fat” book.
“177 Mental Toughness . . .” book is excellent and can’t wait to get IT. I’ve been training with it every Saturday morning at our Primerica office.
Thank you for both of these books! I entend to read them and implement what I learn from them.
Sincerely,
Pamela Hallberg
Thanks, Pamela!
