I’ve just written the most controversial book of my career: Die Fat or Get Tough, 101 Differences in Thinking Between Fat People and Fit People, which was just released in ebook format. (The printed softcover will be out in July 2009) If you are 10 or more pounds overweight and ready to get fit, this book may be the answer. We’re getting feedback from all over the world from people who are shocked with the approach of this book, and many of them said they were offended but couldn’t disagree with anything I wrote. Dr. Joe Vitale, co-star of The Secret, called the book, “A disturbing masterpiece”. While I appreciate the masterpiece quote, I agree that the book is disturbing. I wrote it to shock people out of the psychological delusion that keeps them fat, sick, and unhappy…and into reality about what it takes to get fit forever. Honestly, when my editor gave the book back to me to complete the second draft I was actually offended by what I read! How can you be offended by your own book!? I’ll tell you how: because I’ve been thinking like a fat person my whole life! I was fit until I was 40, but I ate like a pig and had the core beliefs of fat person. If it wasn’t for lucky genes, I would have been the size of an elephant. No kidding. I could sit in front of the TV and down a family size bag of Doritos in my sleep! And that was just the warm up for the pizza! But 5 years ago I woke up and started applying my mental toughness philosophy to my eating and exercise, and 12 weeks later, I lost 40 pounds, and haven’t had a problem since. From 2003 to 2008, I interviewed hundreds of fat and fit people and disected their core beliefs and philosophies around diet and exercise. What I found was fit people have completely different beliefs and philosophies in this area, and these beliefs and philosophies drove their eating and exercise habits. The differences in thinking are so extreme I decided to write a book about it. I lot of my colleagues disagreed with my decision, since I work with Fortune 500  sales teams on mental toughness, which has nothing to do with weight loss. But I moved forward because people are suffering needlessly, getting sick and dying too young because they’re fat. This book has the power to change that, if the reader is tough enough to grow up and accept objective reality. Listen to this post and then go to the website and read the first 5 chapters for free. You will love it or hate it, but I promise, you won’t forget it. www.diefatbook.com    Steve Siebold  ( 7:57 )

  1. I believe that avoiding packaged foods would be the first step so that you can lose weight. They might taste beneficial, but processed foods possess very little nutritional value, making you take more in order to have enough power to get throughout the day. If you’re constantly having these foods, moving over to grain and other complex carbohydrates will aid you to have more power while having less. Interesting blog post.

  2. Just finished 21 day mental toughness fat loser course and lost 13 pounds and still going. Finally able to put all the peices together.

  3. OH WOW, you are what I have needed!!! I belong to Sparkpeople a great website, but until you for 6 years I have been on and off over and over. Well I have to admit like someone’s post up above I haven’t been 100% compliant, but have done so much better. I am thankful we can do this over again.
Another thing, I have a very bright son who has great ambition but as most gets stuck in the day to day, wife, 2 babies, 2 jobs lifestyle. I want to lead him to you. Question do you have anything else like this that is free? If not I will certainly lead him to fat loser lol even though he has crohns disease and nothing to lose wt wise for sure.
I haven’t been offended by any means, and too bad for those that turn you off ( as an obese friend in South TN did OH my he is offending me!). She is over 300 lbs and sure wish she would listen.
Could go on and on!!!! Fantastic and thanks so much. every day was super but loved 16 on………….
so truthful, real and just down right sensible!
    Thanks

  4. For 20 months off and on I have been using a program with hypnosis CDs. The suggestions didn’t quite match me, but I would try to accept them anyway, making mental changes to make it fit. I have not been successful with this. That is why I am so surprised at Day 5 to find my subconscious internalizing your program without me even realizing it. I am 100% compliant and have never been able to do that before. I am looking at those foods I have had a love/hate relationship with differently. I am allowed some inside my diet plan, but I really haven’t wanted them. This is really working for me. I am at the enthusiastic phase…and getting tough for the pain phase.
Thank you so much…this was made for me (and I am not offended at all)

  5. Steve,
I would really like to try the 21 day Fat Loser Program. Where can I find the free copy of this. A co-worker told me about your book “Die Fat or Get Tough”. I can’t wait to read it. Please let me know where I can find a copy of the 21 day Fat Loser Program.

  6. I’m on Day 16 of he 21 day free course and I’ve just finished reading the book Die Fat. Both have been excellent–but here is my dilemma.. Each day you tell me how great I’m doing because I’m still in the course, but the truth is, I’m not doing so great…I’m still not 100% compliant…in fact, I’m still waffling on which diet to stick with (just like you said the masses do!)–and, I’ve started “cheating” again eating a cookie here and there (after 3 days, I started Diet Coke again, but it took almost 2 weeks to eat a cookie)…NOW, what do I do? I feel like even more of a failure than I did before, but I’m still determined to win the battle. Should I “start over” with lesson 1 of the course? Do I just determine that my “diet” is 1200- 1500 calories as my dr. recommended–and just be compliant tomorrow? (I went to the Dr., but he doesn’t recommend any diet, just “eat healthy” and watch your calories.)

In any event, thank you for your frank, hit-you-in-the-face book and for making the course free. I continue to think, grow and practice great self-talk, so I know I will get there!

PS. The title DIE FAT has made me start trying to figure out how morticians squeeze a morbidly obese person into a standar, skinny coffin…the thought isn’t pretty!

  7. Well, here I GO! I hope this approach will keep me fired up. I have tried everything else. Anyone else just starting?

  8. Steve,

I just finished your Free 21 Day Fat Loser Program. All I can say is WOW! I have tried every diet program out there and blamed the program for my failure. It is now abundantly clear to me that it was not the programs, but rather, my thinking that failed. I have already made amazing changes to my way of thinking about dieting and I’m well on my way to SUCCESS!!! Thank you Steve and Dawn for the clarity! I’m a HUGE fan.

    1. Way to go, Victoria! I’m proud of you!!
Now don’t let up for a second. Keep it going until you hit your goal weight.

  9. For those wondering where the 5 chapters are that are promised, the book is probably divided into 101 chapters, each dealing with one of the 101 differences in FIT/FAT thinking.
So what you have downloaded is the entire chapter on the 5 topics offered.
    Let’s get FIT.

  10. I’m with you on the five chapters free…where is it? … tough to find shall i die trying?

  11. Keep up the great work, Steve! It is a matter of life and death, and there is no one more deceived than a person who is self deceived. Sometimes people need to hear the TRUTH.

  12. Hi Steve,
Yesterday I bought your ‘Die fat or get tough book’ It’s brilliant…exactly what I wanted to hear…no more self lies and no more excuses!

I’ve always considered myself gentle and spiritual but i love your mental toughness approach.

I learned about your book through Joe Vitale and I’m now looking forward to reading your other work.

I have a couple of requests… Firstly, would you please write a similar style book on money/wealth? Secondly, would you please include more paragraph spaces in your writing as I (and i am sure others do too) find reading long texts on the computer a bit tiring.

Many thanks and all the best with your work,

    1. Hazel,

Thanks for your kind words about the book. I’m really glad it’s helping you. Please keep me up to date on your progress.

      Here’s to your health!
