One of the most well kept mental toughness secrets of the world class is the vision process. This means writing out what your ideal life would look like 5-10 years in the future. This exercise scares the middle class and energizes the world class. Which group do you want to be part of ? We’ll be covering this process in great detail in the winter semester of the Mental Toughness College, which begins January 14, 2008. For more information, visit www.mentaltoughnesscollege.com

  1. Steve:

    Happy New Year!

My wife and I follow a similar process. We create a list of 101 goals and then create a vision board to capture the essence of our goals. The vision board is the first thing we see when we get up and the last thing we see before we go to sleep. We haven’t created a written letter like you describe, but every morning we each write out affirmations consistent with the vision board.

Though our process differs from the letter, we found the results to be amazing. Each day starts with possibilities instead of problems – that by itself makes me more productive.

  2. Steve,
I wrote out my 10 year vision about a year ago right after reading your book. It provided the motivation I needed to take some chances. Chances that were necessary for the vision to become a reality. Re-reading it gives me an emotional boost to get back on track when things aren’t going smoothly. Thanks for the reminder to review it every day. I don’t review it often enough.

    Kris
