Mental Toughness at the Playboy Mansion

Do you have a bucket list? In other words, a list of things you want to do before you die? Years ago one of mine was to meet Hugh Hefner and attend a party at the Playboy Mansion. How about you? Are you pursuing what you want or holding back? Watch this short video (1:37) I taped at Hef’s Halloween Party last Saturday night at the Playboy Mansion and I’ll look forward to your comments. 1. Thanks, Jeff.

I’ve never been a Type-A personality – I’m laid back, spend a lot of time on line for business and pleasure, and like to relax and keep a lot of personal time. My buck lists have always included learning new things from doing or reading/watching.

People sometimes get discouraged because they believe “life gets in the way” and they never have the time to do the things on their lists, for them. You can tell them they have to manage time better or if they really wanted to they could – both true – but everyone gets side tracked and discouraged from time to time.

One thing that puts this in perspective for me is remembering that what’s going on in my life now that takes more time than I wish it would – so I can move on to some Bucked List things – is temporary.

In the mean time I can still plan – do some small things to keep the dream in front of me – and let that focus get me through the things I have to attend to now.

So my advice is: Always keep your mind’s eye on the things you want to do even when you can’t do them now. Do simple things to keep your Bucket List alive – study, plan, and act in small ways so when the time comes you’re ready.

I think my bucket list is constantly changing as I grow. I have been doing well at accomplishing many of my goals. Since I have had kids it has changed my life completely. Who knows what my bucket list will be down the line. I am excited to see.

  3. without an active bucket list and action there is nothing but the middle class life….might as well be dead now.

  4. Patrick says:

My bucket list is very long, but #1 is make a lasting contribution to society that creates a better world.

    Steve, what was your costume?

  5. Gill says:

I remember seeing my first Playboy in around 1965?? Ursula Andress was in it! Wow–anyway my bucket list dream was to be Hef and lounging around in my robe surrounded by Playboy Bunnies! I am afraid my wife will not let me complete my list!

  7. Well I decided one day last week that we HAD to buy a gorgeous, RED top grain leather contemporary couch I saw in a store. So I ordered it and I can hardly wait till it’s delivered.
And I made a promise to myself, and a chart to facilitate it: For every hour I spend lounging on that sofa, I am obligating myself to an hour of some healthy activity where I move around a lot – whether swimming, yoga, housework, walking, exercise videos… I am looking forward to this regimen. 🙂

Good Story Mike, It was more motivating than Steve’s Video 🙂 – Keep it up !

  9. You keep doing the things on your list and you keep adding to the list more than you do so it’s always growing.

One personal example: I started taekwondo with my grand daughter this year in January. In a couple of weeks, I’ll be sparring in my second tournament and doing my green belt form. I train every Monday evening for three hours with my teacher in two classes and go through my exercises and forms, the basics, every day at home.

Our classes are mixed from young kids through teens up through the years to me the oldest guy in the group age sixty-eight. I’ve got the highest kick of everyone and I intend to keep going the rest of my life well into the black belts and also learning other martial arts.

I’ve got many more things to do on my list.
