Death Threats: Logic vs. Emotion

Thanks to everyone who commented on the Obama-Care Disaster post, especially to Mike Michelozzi and Jane Barr, who really dug into this post with their opinions and ideas. Five major newspapers called me for interviews within 14 hours of this post, and I appreciate the Canadian and U.S. press for their continued support of this blog. Just hours after President Obama signed the health care bill into Law, several congressman have received death threats. These events occur when people allow their emotions to cloud their judgment. Mentally tough performers use emotion to create passion, but never allow their passion, no matter how intense, to overrule left brain logical thinking and reasoning. Out of control emotion leads to frustration, which quickly becomes rage and sometimes escalates to violence. This is why mental toughness and critical thinking are so important, especially when it comes to debating major issues such as health care. In essence, the mentally weak can’t control their emotions so they attack their opponents personally, and sometimes even physically. This is the primary reason we’ve all been taught not to discuss sex, politics or religion in mixed company. Most people become so emotionally overwhelmed when someone presents an opposing view that they become seriously offended. That’s an embarrassing assessment of the masses, but difficult to dispute after 26 years of research. We’ll continue to address all of these topics and more on this blog, because this subscriber base can not only handle the most challenging issues, they aren’t afraid to speak out and give their opinions. Obama-Care Disaster

President Obama has once again used his considerable verbal skill to persuade democrats to vote for government controlled healthcare. Not only did he ignore the entire republican party, he ignored 55% of the American people who hate this bill. America can’t afford to pay for this, and the President has effectively saddled future generations with trillions of dollars of debt they won’t ever be able to pay back. In the worst economy of our lifetime, the President and his democratic co-horts are spending insane amounts of money we don’t have. And the republicans are not without blame. They had eight years under President Bush to elevate their puritanical thinking on social issues and gain support across the isle, and they failed to do so. The democrats want to control us and the republicans want to impose their moral agenda on us. Here’s my take: we don’t need these people telling us what to do or how to live. Greed is Good

You probably remember this famous line delivered by fictional character Gordon Gekko in the hit movie Wall Street, played by the always amazing Michael Douglas. Greed has always taken a bad rap, but the the truth is, greed really IS good. Greed is responsible for every major innovation and advancement in human history. Greed is simply excessive desire to get what you want; and it’s greed that built America and every other great nation. I’m sick and tired of listening to big mouth pundits on TV and radio talking about how noble and charitable the American founding fathers were. Are we ever going to move into objective reality? These guys were greedy to be free from their oppressors, and their excessive desire to “live free or die” motivated a small group of otherwise peaceful citizens to take up arms against an enemy that was seemingly imposible to defeat. Thats greed. I have a friend with a very sick child who told me she’ll do anything she has to to raise the money she needs to save her daughters life. That’s greed. When you’ve had enough of working for a boss without a brain and are willing to stake your entire life savings on starting your own business to break free, thats greed. Gekko was right when he said: “Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed in all its forms–greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge–has marked the upward surge of mankind. That’s mental toughness and critical thinking. Politicians Holiday?

People hate politicians, but critical thinking and objective reality says they’re important people doing a thankless job. Whether you’re a democrat or republican; conservative or liberal, we all owe politicians a debt of gratitude for their patriotism and dedication. While the masses and media will continue to criticize and attact politicians 24/7, world-class thinkers should rise above this fear based bullying and recognize these important public servants. I propose an international holiday, beginning in the United States and hopefully spreading throughout the world, to celebrate and pay tribute to politicians of every party and philosophy. $300 Million Dollar Advice

The best advice I ever got in business came from a man who built a $300 million dollar empire. I was shocked and stunned when he hammered me with this dose of objective reality. I was also broke. This is a message you won’t hear much about in the positive thinking, personal development community. That’s too bad, because it’s pure gold. This is mental toughness and critical thinking at its best. It’s a tough message to hear, and it may make all the difference in how high you rise. It literally changed my life. My Response to Robert Kiyosaki’s USA Today Editorial

Like most speakers and authors, I read a lot. But in the last few months I haven’t read much in the news that makes sense when it comes to rebuilding the educational infrastructure of America…until today. Robert Kiyosaki’s USA Today editorial in the forum section (2/9/10) is not only brilliant; it’s also practical.

Politics, Sex and Religion: Why the Masses Attack

Have you ever wondered why these subjects are off limits in mixed company? Research shows it’s not what most people think. It’s actually all about mental toughness; or lack thereof. The higher level of consciousness a person is operating at, the more open minded they are to opposing thoughts and ideas. The lower levels of consciousness are rooted so deeply in fear that people operating at these levels (90% of the population) are not only offended by opposing views on these and other major life issues; they will viciously attack anyone who has the courage to voice them. Human beings attempt to make sense of a world they’re not intellectually capable of fully understanding by establishing a series of beliefs and filtering everything that happens through them. These beliefs are like a series of dots they use to connect their experiences together so they make sense and have purpose. The major life issues of politics, sex and religion represent “dots” of substantial importance to most people, and when they’re challenged, the average person’s emotional security is threatened; which is when they attack. After all, they reason (consciously or unconsciously) “If this opposing view is correct and I’m wrong, the world no longer makes sense to me.” In essence, people who speak out on these types of topics threaten to “scramble the dots” of the person they’re speaking to. People operating at the higher levels of consciousness welcome these fascinating debates and opposing view points because at their level of thinking, fear doesn’t exist. Is Israel Doomed?

I want to personally thank the Canadian press for their continued interest in this blog. As you know, this community has several thousand subscribers around the world and some of the sharpest minds you’ll find making comments on any blog. We appreciate your support. Two reporters in the Canadian press asked us to take on some larger issues happening in the world within the framework of mental toughness and critical thinking. The next day Iran’s supreme leader makes yet another delusional statement: Israel is doomed. This is a man who claims to be a religious leader and presides over the welfare of 72- million Iranian citizens. This is the same guy (Ayatollah Ali Khamenei) who say’s Israel is a “cancerous tumor” and “must be wiped off the map” This is another reason the critical thinkers of the world have to continue to stand up, speak out, and get rid of these delusional leaders operating at a 4th grade level of consciousness. ( surely an insult to all 4th graders-my apologies!) As always, I can’t wait to hear what you guys have to say about this—and either can the Canadian press! This audio post is 4 minutes. The case for legalizing marijuana

Critical thinking question: why is alcohol legal in the United States while pot is illegal? Alchohol is stronger and more destructive than marijuana, yet the government doesn’t seem to recognize this. The estimated annual tax revenue on the sales of marijuna is $10-14 billion dollars, and the government needs the money. Who is the government to tell rational thinking adults what they can and can’t do in the privacy of their own homes? Independent thinkers started this country and we’re the only people strong enough to take it back. We need to take a hard look at governments expanding role in our daily lives and decide whether we need these people telling us how to live our lives. I’ll look forward to hearing your comments.
